The Dog Days of Summer
Welcome to the Dog Days of Summer — the period from July 3 – August 11 when it’s incredibly hot in the Northern Hemisphere (or parts of it, anyway. I bet it’s not hot in the Arctic, for example) and every one is sweating up a storm and seeking relief from the heat. But what actually are the Dog Days of Summer?
I’m so glad you asked! According to Farmer’s Almanac, they’re the “20 days before and 20 days after this alignment of Sirius with the Sun—July 3 to August 11 each year.” Yep, apparently this is the time when “the Sun occupies the same region of the sky as Sirius, the brightest star visible from any part of Earth and part of the constellation Canis Major, the Greater Dog.”
The more you know, right? But hey, we’re not here to talk about the weather. Nope, we’re here to talk BOOKS. Which is why, with the help of Donna, I’ve got a very special round-up for you today: Books With Dogs on the Cover. AKA books with Bites that fall under keyword: Animal Lover. Enjoy!
