Weekly New Releases: May 24
Being a romance reader comes with many perks. Chief among which is the sheer number of books we get to look forward to every single week. But there’s a downside to all that choice: the decision paralysis that comes with trying to pinpoint exactly where to start. And, seeing as we are in the business of books—specifically romance books—it seemed wise to take the time to sort through the pile and try to bring some organization to it. For you, of course. This is a purely altruistic act. So, read on to see what books are on offer this week, and what tropes and subgenres they belong to!

FEATURED NEW RELEASES
I am unabashedly addicted to Kate Meader’s books, and her Rookie Rebels series has had me all up in my feels since it started with Good Guy. This one is an absolute delight, with a grumpy hero — he knows it, accepts it, plays into it — and a sunshine-y heroine with hidden hurts. When Kennedy loses her job, and she and Reid end up freezing themselves to rescue a dog, so begins a sexy, feelsy, and fun romance. A must read!
You might remember seeing this one on Donna’s recent Summer Reads We Can’t Wait For post, because we are both psyched for this queer retelling of Anastasia. Out a job and a girlfriend, the last thing Makeda Hicks needs is to be dragged into royal life by a PI tasked with bringing her back to Ibarania. You won’t want to miss the fake relationship intrigue, forced proximity sexiness, and twist of grumpy/sunshine goodness!
After reading (and loving) all the previous stories in the Duke Dynasty series from Sabrina Jeffries, I could hardly wait to crack this one open. (Thank you, ARC gods!) I was rewarded with a satisfying conclusion to the overarching mystery of who is murdering the Dowager Duchess’s husbands and a sweet love story that sees a closed-off Duke brought to his knees, and a Lady willing to go the extra mile to secure his heart. LOVE.
It was the cover that first caught my eye when it comes to Unbreak Your Heart, but the blurb that sold it to me — there’s definite Sleepless in Seattle echoes in this story about Jake, a sickly seven-year-old, who is determined to find his single father a new love. The reviews call this one “heartbreaking and heartwarming,” so I have tissues at the ready . . . and hope that this book will be as charming as it’s cover.
ALSO RELEASING THIS WEEK
Beth Cranford was born and raised in Australia, but followed her heart (and her husband) to the United States in her late 20s. As the mother of two kids, she’s learned that you can turn anything into a song and that slime does not belong in carpeted areas (or polite society). You can most often find her with her Kindle in hand, listening to Taylor Swift on repeat, or spending way too many hours playing Animal Crossing.
